Implemented features since 2025
This is a non-backward compatible version of the 20-year-old program.
The new version from 2025 will offer a smaller range of features. However, this will allow bugs to be fixed and new functionality to be integrated.
- Version 1.1.0: Exporting images as 16 Bit Portable Network Graphics (PNG), JPEG with “100% quality” and Portable Float Map.
Implemented features between 2002 and 2005
The version developed between 2003 and 2005 still works partially on Debian 12 and Debian 13. However, it can no longer be further developed. After more than 20 years, the code generation tools are no longer compatible with the current software technology.
- Version 1.0.0: Stable Kandid release.
- Version 0.3.7: Public WEB database for chromosome exchange.
- Version 0.3.5: Kandid can be used to evolve layered textures and isosurfaces objects for POV ray.

- Version 0.1.8: Drag and drop between two populations or one population and the gene pool.
- Version 0.1.7: Color gradients and color look up tables.
- Version 0.1.5: Storing genes and populations in XML format. Using XML schema to define this format.
- Version 0.1.1: Exporting images to popular file formats. Portable Network Graphics (PNG), Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and Postscript.
- Version 0.1.0: Applet and application for simple types of calculation.
